The Rock Star Doctor joined fellow Scots Franz Ferdinand on stage.
It’s well-known that actor Peter Capaldi has many strings to his bow. He’s the Oscar winning director of a short film, as well as numerous other things.
He was also a member of an early 80s post-punk band called The DreamBoys, alongside comedian and talk show host Craig Ferguson.
In more recent years, post-Doctor Who, Capaldi has released two albums, 2021’s St. Christopher and 2025’s Sweet Illusions.
Capaldi at Glastonbury 2025
For that reason, we’re sure that his surprise appearance this weekend was a tick on his bucket list.
Of course, the fun of this star turn is that a certain other Glaswegian Capaldi, the singer-songwriter Lewis (Peter’s second cousin once removed), was widely rumoured to be at the Festival. (He was, on the Pyramid stage at the same time!)
For more on this spectacular collaboration, there’s an interview with Capaldi and Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos on the NME website.
Other Glastonbury Doctors?
Peter Capaldi is not the first to take to the Glastonbury Stage. Ncuti Gatwa was also present at Worthy Farm this year, and introduced Pop star JADE. He previously contributed a spoken word verse to her single ‘Midnight Cowboy’.
Additionally, Matt Smith made a memorable appearance in 2010, joining Orbital for a Doctor Who theme remix to close the festival.
Surely, it’s only a matter of time before David Tennant joins The Proclaimers on stage at the festival?
