The stars of The Serpent and Bad Boys lead a stellar ensemble for Prisoner.
Sky have announced a new original thriller series from screenwriter Matt Charman and director Otto Bathurst.
Prisoner stars Tahar Rahim alongside Izuka Hoyle (Boiling Point, Ludwig) as a prisoner and escort on the run together. Rahim was mesmeric in The Serpent as the 1970s serial killer Charles Sobhraj, so we are fascinated to see this new villain.
For her part, Izuka Hoyle is a rising star who’s demonstrated her range with roles in the intense Boiling Point, as well as her comic chops as part of the team in Ludwig. However, she’s probably best known for her role as Corinne in the imminently returning Bad Boys.
Here’s what we know about Prisoner
Tahar Rahim takes on the role of dangerous, high-value prisoner Tibor Stone. Izuka Hoyle stars as Amber Todd, a young principled prison officer who must put her life in Tibor’s hands when their transport convoy is brutally ambushed. As the sole survivors, Amber and Tibor are forced to go on the run. They must work together to reach their destination alive and on time.
Throughout the journey, their relationship twists and turns, with the stakes escalating as the crime syndicate stops at nothing to track them down. Amber can trust no one—least of all the killer she is handcuffed to. But as everything she holds dear hangs in the balance, she must confront an impossible question: what moral lines is she willing to cross?
Joining the pair are Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), Catherine McCormack (Temple) and Leonie Benesch (Around the World in 80 Days). Plus, Finn Bennett, Sam Troughton, Laurie Davidson, Ken Nwosu, Brían F. O’Byrne and Youssef Kerkour.
Prisoner comes from Binocular in association with Sky Studios. The writer, creator and showrunner is Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), with episodes directed by Otto Bathurst and Pia Strietmann.
We’ll keep you posted.
