In a shake up behind the scenes, the episode order is also getting a shuffle.
Thanks to an exclusive report in Deadline, we’ve learned there are changes afoot at the new Quantum Leap.
With the show bound for NBC’s autumn schedule, Martin Gero, who has been with the series in an executive producer capacity, is stepping up to run the show. He’s taking over from Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt who penned the pilot and will remain as executive producers.
Gero is an experienced showrunner and producer who has worked on shows such as Blindspot, Stargate: Atlantis and Kung Fu. Additionally, the show is also gaining another executive producer in Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian Candidate, The Meg).
The revived Quantum Leap is set to star Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Seong. He leads a team who have restarted the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind it – and whatever happened to its creator Dr. Sam Beckett. For more on the show, check out our earlier coverage.
The Deadline piece suggests that NBC are happy with the show but wished to bring experienced hands in to run a challenging production in a very tight timeframe. However, we can’t help but fear the worst; it brings back the spectre of troubled productions with network interference like FireFly and Babylon 5: Crusade!
Quantum Leap is scheduled to debut on Monday, September 19th in the US. And hopefully via Peacock in the UK.
We’ll keep you posted.
