Say it aint so! Rumour has it that Jane the Virgin will be wrapping up after its fifth season, with star Gina Rodriguez hinting as much during a panel at the weekend.

She told the audience: “When it came to directing ‘Jane,’ as the star of the show — as a woman, as Latina, I was like, ‘I need to come so correct that I cannot be denied.”

She then went on to say she plans to do more directing next year, reports Variety, “in our final season”.

Now, if this turns out to be true, then it appears to be a slip of the tongue on Rodriguez’s part. A similar rumour about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has been floating around, and The CW has so far not confirmed which shows it will be bringing back next season.

The issue, of course, is that the network simply has too many series, and the overcrowding has already meant that Supergirl fans have been forced to wait for new episodes.
