Zach Braff and Donald Faison launch Scrubs rewatch podcast

The pair are reminiscing about their days on the show in regular episodes of the new podcast…

Zach Braff and Donald Faison are getting back together (but apart, naturally, due to coronavirus restrictions) for Scrubs fans, recording a podcast online called Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach + Donald. The duo are planning to drop very regular episodes of the new project via iHeartRadio, which will find them rewatching the series and chatting about their favourite moments, along with dishing up some behind the scenes trivia.

The two actors played best friends J.D. and Turk on hospital comedy series Scrubs for almost a decade, and are still close in real life. They say that they’ve been trying to make this happen for quite some time, but unfortunately, they’ve both been a bit busy …until now!

“I just wanted it to be like he and I, generally, sound when we talk on the phone, FaceTime or text each other,” Faison told THR about the podcast. “We don’t talk about Scrubs when we do all of that, but we’re genuinely checking in on each other.”

They’re also trying to find a balance with producing the shows where they can bring a consistent level of enthusiasm.

“We’re going to do one or two a week,” Braff promised. “I want it to be fresh. Ideally, I didn’t really want to bank them, because then you’re getting tired and there’s not that new energy. We discussed this before the world changed, maybe doing like three in a day or something. I think it’s good that we’re not. Ultimately, it’s about two friends kind of catching up and we’re telling stories about the show we made together. But there’s a really good energy, I think, if we haven’t spoken in a few days, and we’re excited to chat.

Braff and Faison are currently lining up special guests for future episodes of their Scrubs rewatch podcast, too, including Brendan Fraser.
