The (first) trailer for Spiderman — No Way Home is out, and the final villain reveal has fans rather excited
The trailer focusses on Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). The summary with the trailer is:
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man…
The trailer quickly reveals the plot centres on changing history (and doesn’t attract attention from other bits of the MCU, such as the Temporal Variance Agency from Loki, but we digress…), and using magic to grant his wish has (as it always does) very unintended consequences.
These involve the breakup of the multiverse around Peter (not unfamiliar if you’ve watched the excellent Into the Spiderverse) and cue a plethora of villains: Electro (Jamie Foxx), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and the big one at the end: Doc Ock (aka Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina). Despite leaks, clues and previous press releases/ rumours, the appearance of Doc Ock has fans in a tizzy.
Fans also expected / want / hope for other versions of Peter (ie Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield), there’s no sign of those… yet! You can watch the trailer Spiderman — No Way Home while you wait for more, including the release in cinemas on December 17.
