Amazon Prime has released a trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks as well as announcing a UK release date
The animated Star Trek: Lower Decks was released in the US in August 2020 to rather mixed results. It (as of today) scores 65% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a mere 44% with the audience. We understand the audience score has been much lower.
From the trailer, the show’s emphasis is fun, even down to Space. The funnest frontier as the series boldy goes where no Star Trek series has gone before. UK Amazon Prime subscribers can make up their own minds from January 22, 2021 (Fridays are when Star Trek: Discovery airs on Netflix. We suspect this date is on or just after the end date for Discovery season 3).
The show is set on the USS Cerritos and the bridge crew gets all the fame and glory, while ensigns are very much working behind the scenes on the lower decks. Voice artists include Tawny Newsome (Space Force) as Ensign Beckett Mariner, Jack Quaid (The Boys) as Ensign Brad Boimler, Noël Wells (Master of None) as Ensign Tendi and Eugene Cordero (The Good Place) as Ensign Rutherford.
