The Rogue One prequel show’s long-awaited second season finally has a start date – and a slight rebrand.
It seems like forever since the first season of Andor.
The television series which tells the backstory of the doomed pilot of Rogue One aired on Disney+ in September 2022.
At the time, the show won acclaim for its harder-edged storytelling in a universe firmly under Imperial control.
Diego Luna reprised his role as the titular Cassian Andor, with Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.
Set five years out from the events of Rogue One, the show was structured as four trilogies of episodes. Across the show, we saw Cassian slowly drawn into the rebel cause.
Andor Season 2
Over the weekend, during Lucasfilm’s panel at the D23 Brasil event, it was confirmed that the second season of Andor will begin on April 22nd, 2025. That’s since been confirmed by social media.

The second run again comprises 12 episodes, as four trilogies, spanning the gap between the first season and the start of Rogue One.
Interestingly, the show is now billed as Andor: A Star Wars Story. This picks up the naming convention that both Rogue One and Solo carried, but the first season did not. It will be interesting to see if this spreads into further series.
We’ll keep you posted on Andor. While we wait, there’s Skeleton Crew to look forward to in December – although that’s expected to be very different in tone!
