ITV’s new Queen Victoria drama from the makers of Poldark will apparently begin later this month.

Starring former Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman, Victoria follows Queen Victoria (Coleman) from her accession to the throne at the tender age of 18 through to her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert. Victoria went on to rule for 63 years.

The eight-part series began filming last year and will reportedly start on Sunday 28 August on ITV.

Victoria will be airing in the autumn Sunday night period drama slot previously occupied by Downton Abbey for the past six years.
