Ahead of its return, Netflix have revealed a first trailer for season 5 of its monster hit Stranger Things.
The show’s last hurrah comes in three parts, in November, December and at New Year.
Here’s the synopsis for season 5…
“Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
The show’s final run still holds secrets, according to co-creator Ross Duffer. Speaking during Netflix’s Geeked Week back in 2022, and referring to the show’s 25-page mythology document penned for the streamer at season 1, he said:
“The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we’ve punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in Season 5. And that’s really going to affect what Season 5 is about.”
With all the regulars returning for season 5, the show is also adding a genre icon: The Terminator‘s Linda Hamilton joins as Dr Kay.

Other new additions include Nell Fisher as Holly Wheeler, Jake Connelly as Derek, and Alex Breaux playing Lt. Akers.
As previously announced, Stranger Things season 5 drops on three dates:
In the US, it’s Volume 1 (4 episodes) on November 26th, Volume 2 (3 episodes) at Christmas and the series finale on New Year’s Eve. For the UK, you can add a day to all those dates.
We also know all the episode titles too, thanks to a reveal video back in November 2024.
We’ll keep you posted on Stranger Things series 5.
