After it’s recommission back in February, we’ve been waiting on news about series 2 of Ten Pound Poms.
The 1950s drama, from writer Danny Brocklehurst, follows a group who leave Britain for a new life in Australia.
A big hit for BBC One, the story drew us in with the extraordinary tales of the expats as they found themselves in a camp for international immigrants – far from the better quality of life that they were sold. That’s not to mention the PTSD, teenage pregnancies and the struggle to find employment. And Warren Brown’s magnificent moustache!
A batch of newly released pictures show stars Michelle Keegan (Fool Me Once), Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones) and Warren Brown (The Responder) reprising their roles as Kate, Annie and Terry respectively. They also introduce new characters joining the series including the Skinner family, who arrive in Australia from Ireland ready to enjoy their new lives in the sunshine, plus unscrupulous landlord Benny Bates, who makes Terry an offer he can’t refuse as he attempts to put down roots for his family.
Here’s what we know about Ten Pound Poms Series 2
After a challenging first year in Australia, series two follows nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) into 1957 on their adventure down under, each determined against all odds to achieve their slice of the Australian dream. As Kate, Annie and Terry settle into their new lives, they each struggle to reconcile their hopes for the life they were promised with the harsh realities they face at Galgownie.
Also returning for series two are Australian actors Rob Collins as Ron, Leon Ford (Elvis) as Bill, Declan Coyle as Stevie, Stephen Curry as JJ, Hattie Hook as Pattie, Finn Treacy (Young Rock) as Peter, Emma Hamilton (Mr Selfridge) as Sheila and Cheree Cassidy as Marlene.
Series two of Ten Pound Poms wrapped production in Australia earlier this year. It will air on BBC One in 2025.
The show, from producers Eleven (Sex Education), is created and written Danny Brocklehurst. The BBC co-produce with Stan, who air the show in Austraila. The series 2 writing team also includes Ryan Griffen (Cleverman) and Smita Bhide (The Indian Detective). The directors are Ana Kokkinos and Tom McKay.
You can catch first series on BBC iPlayer and we’ll keep you posted on series 2.
