There’s more to come from Dodger and Fagin Down Under. 

Towards the end of 2023, Disney+ brought us a new take on Charles Dickens’ famous character Jack Dawkins. Better known as The Artful Dodger, he’s one of the most memorable characters from Oliver Twist.

In the show, which catches up with the former pickpocket as an adult, played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, we found him using his deft hands as a surgeon in Port Victory, Australia. Naturally, his criminal past soon came calling when his former master Fagin arrived down under too.

With a mix of heists, romance and surgery, the show was great fun and spun on some terrific central performances – notably David Thewlis as the charismatic and devious Fagin.

Now, Disney+ have confirmed that The Artful Dodger is returning Season 2 with eight more episodes.

They say: Filming will begin in 2025 at Callan Park in Sydney, picking up where the “heart’s desires of Dodger, Fagin and Lady Belle left off, promising more cunning thievery, snappy humor, life-and-death surgeries, and romance with a twist.”

Thomas Brodie-Sangster, David Thewlis and Maia Mitchell, who plays Lady Belle Fox, are all confirmed to return.

The show is co-created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor. The Artful Dodger Season 2 is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures.
