The Cleaner – first look images and cast for Series 2

Simon Callow, Asim Chaudry, Harriet Walter and Zoë Wanamaker all guest star. 

As Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead returns, the BBC have released first-look images for The Cleaner series 2. The new run of episodes promise bigger crime scenes and even more larger-than-life guests.

Here’s what we know:

Co-written by and starring Greg Davies, comedy series The Cleaner follows Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead on more of his eventful cleaning jobs. Armed again with his chemicals, scrubbing brushes and cleaning rags, Wicky removes more gruesome remains at the scenes of new crimes, including in a theatre, an electrical goods store, and a stately home. It is here he meets some more unusual characters and gets sucked into their worlds as he can’t help but gossip as he cleans, all the while trying to get down to the pub.

The show’s star Greg Davies says:

“I’m so thrilled that Wicky is back for another round of clean ups and delighted that he is doing so on BBC One. The cast for this series are brilliant and that there are so many distinguished actors amongst them leads me to believe that the BBC have secrets that they are using as leverage. Me, the writing and production teams are very grateful for this support.”

Guest Stars

There are some impressively big names lined up for series 2. We can look out for appearances from Zoë Wanamaker, Asim Chaudhry, Harriet Walter and Simon Callow. Plus, Zita Sattar returns as PS Ruth Edwards.

The cast also includes John MacMillan (House of the Dragon), Alex Lawther (The End of the F..ing World), Susannah Fielding (This Time With Alan Partridge) and Roisin Conaty.

Mark Lewis Jones, Rudi Dharmalingam, Joshua McCord, Louis Emerick, Amy Morgan, Charlie Rawes, Jemma Carlton, Rebecca Lee and Cassius Thompson are also appearing. Oh, and pop legend Shakin’ Stevens too!

The Cleaner is based on the multi award winning long-running German comedy series Der Tatortreiniger created by Mizzi Meyer. Series 2 is co-written by Paul Allen, Barry Castagnola, Meg Salter and Mike Wozniak. The directors are Tom Marshall and Dominic Brigstocke.
