He might be best-known as the inventor of Taskmaster, but “Little” Alex Horne also leads his own musical comedy sitcom.
The Horne Section has been a going concern since 2010. Led by Alex Horne, the comical music troop have appeared at the Edinburgh Festival and popped up intermittently on Channel 4. They’ve also released three albums, starred in their own BBC Radio 4, and had a podcast since 2018.
The Horne Section TV Show landed on our screens in November 2022, bringing the band’s unique brand of comedy stylings to the small screen with Horne and his bandmates playing exaggerated versions of themselves.
Now, Channel 4 have announced that the show will return on at 10pm on Thursday 22nd May.
Here’s what to expect from series 2 of The Horne Section TV Show
Struggling with his newfound fame, the pressure of filming live from his family home and subsequent lack of money, Alex is determined to prove to the nation that he is a credible musician and bandleader, especially when an appearance from acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Reggie Watts throws what little musical confidence he had. Trying not to be overshadowed by the real musicians he works with and struggling to cope with guests being cancelled during live recordings, the first ever World’s Strongest Musician competition, desperate corporate awards and a haunted tv studio, Alex is insistent that the show must go on.
The Horne Section TV Show are: Alex Horne (band leader), Joe Auckland (trumpet and banjo), Mark Brown (saxophone and guitar), Will Collier (bass), Ben Reynolds (drums and percussion) and Ed Sheldrake (keyboards). Joining them, Desiree Burch, Tim Mahendran, Georgia Tennant (Staged) and Camille Ucan also return to their roles.
Series 2 sees Tim Key and John Oliver appear as returning special guests. Also boarding the show are Ronni Ancona, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Stevie Martin and Anna Crilly.
