The Thursday Murder Club comes to Netflix this August — we bring you the details of your next favourite cozy crime series
Netflix has revealed Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club is arriving on the streamer this August. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film arrives on August 28. And yes, it’s a Thursday! It stars Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Ben Kingsley and Pierce Brosnan.
What is The Thursday Murder Club about?
Based on Richard Osman’s first novel, we follow four irrepressible retirees — Elizabeth (Mirren), Ron (Brosnan), Ibrahim (Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) — who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.
The press release also has some first look pictures, and a more detailed cast list.
Will this be a one off, or might more follow?
Richard Osman’s book was released (and became a best-seller) in 2020. Osman found inspiration for the book at his mother’s retirement community, and has continued the book series with The Man Who Died Twice, The Bullet That Missed, and The Last Devil to Die, as well as the newest instalment The Impossible Fortune, which is due later this year. We have little doubt this cozy crime will be a great success, and are already looking forward to future films. We hope to being you a trailer soon.
