Sad news: the terrific daytime TV show Armchair Detectives won’t be back…
Ah, here’s some sad news. One of the best new daytime TV programmes in recent times has been Armchair Detectives. This is the show where amateur sleuths gradually had to work out who had committed a crime, that was shown to them in small segments. The show was glued together by the brilliant Susan Calman, and each episode was a lovely whodunnit that was easy to play along with.
But unfortunately, the first series is going to be the only series. This news first came to light over the summer, but any hope of a reprieve appears to have gone.
Yesterday, the show was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA in the Entertainment category, as well as Best Daytime Series in the RTS North West Awards too. But whilst celebrating the fact on Twitter, Calman also revealed that the show wasn’t getting a second series. Here’s the Tweet where she answered a question on the matter…
Armchair Detectives isn’t coming back sadly. I just have to solve mysteries on my own. https://t.co/AMMDfzNmSi

A huge pity, and we do hope the BBC reconsiders. It doesn’t seem very likely, though.
