Gotham Knights – The CW drop a trailer for the show

Welcome to Gotham after the death of Batman.

While a couple of DC shows have come to an end of late, such as Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman, it’s still full steam ahead for Gotham Knights.

Set in a future Gotham, the show follows the children of some familiar names and begins with Caped Crusader’s death.

“…in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names.

But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.”

Now, the CW have dropped a season trailer which appears to illustrate the show’s entire premise…

“Oh look – it’s the Bat brat!”

As well as the young cast of Oscar Morgan, Olivia Rose Keegan, Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara, the trailer leans heavily on Misha Collins. The former Supernatural star is on board as Harvey Dent, the District Attorney who sets out to solve Batman’s murder.

Two-Face

Of course, Harvey Dent has a destiny in Batman lore – as referenced in the casting announcement:

“Dashing, with a swagger, Harvey Dent is Gotham’s charismatic, hard-charging District Attorney. With a rigid sense of right and wrong, Harvey’s idealism and single-minded quest for justice will ironically and tragically transform him into one of Gotham’s most feared supervillains, Two-Face.”

Gotham Knights is coming from writers Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux and Chad Fiveash, who were on the Batwoman team. Danny Cannon is the pilot’s director and the executive producer. Natalie Abrams is a co-executive producer too, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden of Berlanti Productions.

The show is expected to premiere on the CW in 2023.
