Gotham Knights finds its Harvey Dent in Misha Collins

Supernatural‘s Misha Collins has been cast as the District Attorney who turns supervillain.

Of all the Gotham-related stories being created at the moment, Gotham Knights is one which really catches our interest. Set after Batman’s murder, it focusses on his rebellious adopted son who forms an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies. Framed for killing Bruce Wayne, this band of misfits have to fight to clear their names.

While filming set to begin in April, according to producer/director Danny Cannon (Pennyworth), the show looks to now have its principal villain; news has broken that former Supernatural star Misha Collins will play Harvey Dent/Two-Face. He joins a cast that includes Oscar Morgan, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara.

Following the announcement, the CW network has issued a character description (via Variety). This suggests the show plans to take their version of Dent through the character’s whole arc;

“Dashing, with a swagger, Harvey Dent is Gotham’s charismatic, hard-charging District Attorney. With a rigid sense of right and wrong, Harvey’s idealism and single-minded quest for justice will ironically and tragically transform him into one of Gotham’s most feared supervillains, Two-Face.”

Misha Collins has celebrated the news on social media, sharing some familiar costume ideas…

The actor has some big shoes to fill; both Tommy Lee-Jones (Batman Forever) and Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) have previously played the role.

Angelic

The popular Collins joined his previous gig at the CW at the start of its fourth season. Originally intended for a six-episode arc, his role of the angel Castiel expanded to become a regular (sometimes special guest star) throughout the show’s 15 season run.

Additionally, Collins also has credits on ER, NCIS and Timeless… plus a TV movie called Stonehenge Apocalypse which we can’t resist sharing the trailer for…

Crikey! That’s one up on Doctor Who‘s under-henge, isn’t it?
