Coming January 5, 2021 is six-part comedy series History of Swear Words hosted by Nicolas Cage
More than just an excuse to watch celebrities swear, this series promises to explore the origins, pop culture-usage, science and cultural impact of curse words. It’s the history lesson you didn’t know you needed, in which through interviews with experts in etymology, pop culture, historians and entertainers, we learn the origins of “F**k”, “Sh*t”, “B*tch”, “D**k”, “Pu**y”, and “Damn”.
As trailers go, this one is rather informative. Yes it starts with Nicolas Cage shouting the F word as loud as he can, but we quickly see there is some science and cultural relevance here. We were intrigued to find out there might be an abbreviation or two at work, though disappointed to then found out Fornication Under Consent of the King is an urban myth. We have to say this does look rather interesting and is available on Netflix from January 5.
You can catch the trailer for History of Swear Words here. If nothing else it might give you some ideas what to say on Christmas morning when you out you don’t have enough working batteries lying around for all the presents!
