The launch trailer for the new season of The Musketeers has been unveiled, featuring the first look at Marc Warren’s new villain.

The Hustle star joins the cast as the Comte De Rochefort, a dashing and persuasive aristocrat with a talent for sword fighting and a taste for adventure, replacing Peter Capaldi’s Season 1 villain, Cardinal Richelieu.

Season 2 begins at 9pm on Friday 2 January on BBC One.

Returning cast members include Luke Pasqualino (Skins) as D’Artagnan, Tom Burke (The Hour) as Athos, Santiago Cabrera (Merlin) as Aramis and Howard Charles (Royal Shakespeare Company) as Porthos.
