Series 1 began in November 2010, starring Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Juliet Stevenson, Andy Serkis (The Lord Of The Rings), Marc Warren (Hustle) and Naomie Harris (28 Days Later).
Each episode of Accused focuses on an ordinary person who ends up in court. As the multi-layered story unravels, viewers discover the chain of events which led to the defendant being in the dock and whether their future lies back home or behind bars.
Confirming the recommission of four further episodes, BBC Drama Controller Ben Stephenson said: “Many factors go into the process of recommissioning on BBC One and although the first series rated modestly we feel it has potential to find a broader audience. We are truly excited by Jimmy, Sita and Roxy’s vision of how the second series will build on the creative success of the first.”
