The sixth and final season of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t make it onto our screens until July 2019, Elizabeth Henstridge has revealed. The Jemma Simmons actress replied to a comment on a recent Instagram post to make this news known.
A fan named M Dwi Saputra wrote, “Agent of shield S6 when rilis??” and Henstridge replied with the words “July 2019”. Henstridge followed this revelation by deploying that emoji of a bloke holding a Saturday Night Fever pose.
This comment exchange seems to have disappeared from Henstridge’s feed, but sites such as Spoiler TV snapped and shared screenshots before the comments were removed.
This marks the second year in a row that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been pushed to an irregular slot. The first four seasons premiered, like clockwork, in the last week of September. But season 5 was pushed back to December to accommodate the launch of Marvel’s Inhumans, and now we’re hearing that season 6 won’t premiere until July of next year.
This final season of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will consist of 13 episodes, instead of the usual 22. The season premiere will be directed by Clark Gregg (the actor who plays Agent Coulson), from a script by co-showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. The season 6 premiere is entitled Missing Pieces.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
