Paul Kaye is the first guest star to be confirmed for the new season of Doctor Who.
The comedian and actor is currently filming an episode from the first block of filming for Season 9, playing a character called ‘Prentis’.
Could his character’s name be related to the title of Season 9’s opening episode, ‘The Magicians’s Apprentice’?
Kaye played Thoros of Myr in Game of Thrones and has also appeared in episodes of Ripper Street, Stella and Being Human.
He will next be seen in BBC One’s Jonathan and Mr Norrell, adapted by Doctor Who writer Peter Harness.
Season 9 began filming in Cardiff yesterday, with Jenna Coleman returning as Clara.
