The fourth series of fantasy drama Merlin will run for a full 13 episodes when the show returns to BBC One later this year.
When the show was recommissioned last October, the BBC’s press office announced that “the new 10×45 minute series will start filming in March 2011”.
However, speaking to SFX, executive producer Johnny Capps revealed: “We’re no longer reduced episodes. We’re 13 again. There was talk there would 10, but there will be 13.”
He added: “We were very lucky with Series 3 – it was hugely successful and we built our audience throughout, so I think the BBC now sees it as one of their most important Autumn dramas, especially for a Saturday night.”
