It’s now been five years since Torchwood was last seen on TV.
With the team’s adventures having recently moved to the audio medium it looks like we shouldn’t expect the show to return to our screens anytime soon.
But if Jack and his Woodies (Torchies? Jack-ettes?) aren’t coming back, that doesn’t mean their enemies shouldn’t. A number of the spin-off show’s monsters and villains could easily cross over to the parent series.
Here are ten such nasties that should make the move to Doctor Who…
10. Weevils
The savage sewer-dwelling Weevils have actually made cameo appearances in Doctor Who a few times, in the likes of ‘The Pandorica Opens’ and ‘The Magician’s Apprentice.’
It would be nice for them to get a slightly bigger role, however. Just an explanation of why and how they all wear matching boiler suits would be nice…
9. Arcateenians
Created by Toby Whithouse, the Arcateenians have shown up in both The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood – in wildly different portrayals.
In SJA they are a benevolent, peaceful people while in Torchwood one of them is an evil sexually-promiscuous criminal. They were mentioned in 2015’s ‘Before The Flood’ so let’s hope they appear in Doctor Who to complete the set.
8. Blowfish
One of the best alien designs on Torchwood are the Blowfish, a species of snappily-dressed hedonistic fish-people who love to come to Earth and indulge in drink and drugs.
Obviously, they would have to be made family-friendly, but it would be fun to see a Blowfish get a sizeable role in a Doctor Who episode
7. Bilis Manger
The little bad of Torchwood’s first season, the archly camp Bilis Manger was a worshipper of the Son of the Beast, Abaddon, and appeared to be able to time travel naturally.
His identity was never really explained which makes him a prime example of a villain who needs wrapping up on Doctor Who.
