5 previous found-footage moments in ‘Doctor Who’

There’s never been a found footage episode of Doctor Who before, but there have been episodes where people have found footage (stick with me, it’s about to get even more tenuous).

So, presented without any further words to put you off, here are 5 episodes – and one special mention – featuring found footage of some sort…

‘Blink’

Doctor Who Blink David Tennant Tenth

Though not presented in the lens-perspective style that Episode 9 is likely to be, Steven Moffat’s loudly lauded Whorror classic ‘Blink’ is based entirely around the concept of found footage.

Not just found footage. Timey-wimey foundy-woundy footage. And, in a neat twist, it’s the images that save the day rather than causes the frights.

As you probably know, you can actually see the whole unedited footage of Ten’s half of the conversation on the DVD or YouTube, so you can watch it and pretend you’re battling Weeping Angels or, just in case you’re eating alone and need someone to talk to across the table, use him as an exciting dinner companion. Not that I’ve ever done that…ha…no. No.

Special mention: ‘The Power of Three’

Doctor Who Brian Power of Three

Brian Pond, sorry, Williams (played by Mark Pond, sorry, Williams) keeps a constant ‘Brian’s Log’ of cube activity during ‘The Power of Three’.

There’s not much of a found footage aspect to the tale, unless you consider that some unfortunate UNIT intern will probably have had to scour through all of it after the Shakri’s cube invasion.
