Here are 10 Rogue One Easter eggs you may have missed…

The Force Of Others

People who don’t have a lot of love for the Prequels will no doubt be happy that Rogue One puts focus back on the mysticism of the Force rather than looking at it from a scientific standpoint. Not a Midichlorian in sight. But some of the dialogue about the Force goes back as far as possible.

Part of Chirrut and Baze Malbus’ backstory is that they are Guardians Of The Whills and used to protect the Jedi Temples on Jedha. The Whills have already been referenced in The Clone Wars as the source of Yoda and Obi-Wan being able to appear as ghosts but they first date back to the original draft of Star Wars, written in 1975. The script for Adventures Of The Starkiller Episode I: The Star Wars has the framing device of the story being told from book called “The Journal Of The Whills” with the original version of “A Long Time Ago…” being a passage from it.

In the scenes on Jedha, we also hear the words “May the Force Of Others be with”, the original version of “May the Force be with you” and the last words said by Kane Starkiller to his son Anikin, who would later become Luke Skywalker.

Along with a character called Bendu in Rebels who calls the Light and Dark Side the Ashla and Bogan, we’ve now got a full house for references to the Force from the original Star Wars script. Lucasfilm really do never throw anything away.
