Some clips from the fifth episode of the Doctor Who 2024 series, Dot and Bubble, were released on official media.
The world of Finetime, a colony on an alien planet, seems happy and harmonious — but an awful terror is preying on the citizens. Lindy Pepper Bean (Callie Cooke) must contend with an out-of-control dangerous situation. A gurgling, slobbering, munching sound can be heard from around the corner and her friends are mysteriously disappearing. Can the Doctor and Ruby make the denizens of Finetime see the truth before it’s too late?
The denizens of Finetime live an idyllic existence in climate-controlled dome in the middle of the wilderness on an alien planet.
Lindy Pepper Bean is kind, fun and loyal but also petulant and neurotic. Her Dot device is small and fits in her hand. When above her head, it projects a Bubble which surrounds her head and projects the social media of all her friends — and the occasional unsolicited request which she can remove by swiping to the left. Helpful instructions within the Bubble are designed to prevent the distracted Dot users from bumping into things.
The Finetime residents are the children of rich parents who have sent them to this seemingly peaceful domed city. The residents rarely meet each other, preferring to interact online. Lindy is a popular influencer in the colony with many friends and followers. She adores Ricky September (Tom Rhys Harries), a famous musician and singer with a lot of followers.
The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby (Millie Gibson) try to warn Lindy about dangerous monsters stalking the colonists. One by one, Lindy’s friend are disappearing.
Ruby is able to warn Lindy about a threat in her flat.
The Dot can lead people right into danger.
Can Lindy find her way out of danger with the help of the Doctor and Ruby?
Will Ricky September be able to help Lindy?
Will Lindy come face-to-face with the Doctor and Ruby?
