The longest-running of Warner Bros’ DC television shows, Arrow, is undergoing some sizeable behind the scenes changes as it heads towards its seventh season.
Out are going showrunners Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim. The former leaves the show completely, whilst the latter is taking more of a backseat role. He was one of the co-creators of the Arrow TV show in the first place, but will be staying involved to a degree.
Instead, for season seven, Beth Schwartz is to be Arrow’s new showrunner, having worked her way up from being a writer on the first season of the show.
Greg Berlanti, who oversees and runs all of the Warner Bros DC shows, said in a statement that “we are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow. She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter”.
What that next chapter is remains to be seen. The seventh season of Arrow will debut in the autumn. In the meantime, season six continues…
