The online gambling world, including sports betting companies and online casinos, has brought some fantastic adverts in the past. Some were hilarious, others were controversial, but all expertly highlighted their product to a keen British public.
There have been loads of noteworthy adverts over the years, however on this page we’re going to let you know about the five best gambling adverts we can remember…
Vampires at Virgin Games
The first gambling advert to mention on the list comes from Virgin Games. Some casino adverts might be guilty of being repetitive and boring, but this advert takes viewers on a story all centred on Vlad – a vampire working in a convenience store. The premise is that the vampire feels alive for the first time in centuries, thanks to playing the games on the site. The ending makes this ad great though, as the vampire’s date – an elderly woman – walks into the room. Watch the ad and you’ll understand!
Meccarana
Here’s one for bingo fans – it’s the Mecca TV ad featuring one of the catchiest songs of all time! This won’t be to everyone’s taste – in fact, the majority will find it exceptionally annoying – however it’s certainly effective, as this is an advert people remember. It essentially shows people dancing to the Macarena, with the name of the song changed to Meccarena. It’s fun, loud and catchy, and it will certainly have helped Mecca to boost their revenues.
Beat the Boss at BGO
BGO challenged players to “Beat the Boss” many times, and the boss in question was Verne Troyer – well known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movies. The top advert featuring the popular actor, who sadly passed away in April 2018, is the parody of MC Hammer’s most famous song, which is renamed “Can’t Beat This”. The entire advert is hilarious, and the Beat the Boss series of adverts really helped to make BGO one of the top names in the UK online casino world.
PlayOJO and the Alpaca
This advert from PlayOJO centred around an alpaca, which had been mistreated at other online casino sites. This all changes when it heads to PlayOJO though, and the cute animal’s sadness soon turns into celebration. If you’ve ever wanted to see a dancing alpaca, watch the advert, as it really is pretty funny. The advert was also really effective, as it made PlayOJO into one of the more commonly known UK casino sites.
Anything from Paddy Power
Paddy Power really are the kings when it comes to gambling advertising. Why? Well, they have absolutely no problem courting controversy, even releasing a couple of adverts starring Jesus over the years. The advert we’ve chosen to feature is a recent one though, which uses the subject of VAR to hilarious effect. The premise is that VAR can be used to solve anything in life, from fraudulent benefits claims, through to who was first at the bar. Watch the advert until the end, as the last 20 seconds really are the best. It’s not just advertising Paddy Power are good at though – they’re actually one of the top UK Boku casinos as well!
