There are relationships formed between the Doctor’s new friends prior to meeting the Doctor, according to three television listings magazines, What’s on TV, TV & Satellite Week and TV Times.

Graham O’Brien and his wife, Grace have been married for two years.

Ryan Sinclair is Grace’s grandson and Grace is his only surviving family member. Ryan is trying to make something of his life despite a disability, with the help and encouragement of Grace and his step-grandfather, Graham.

Yasmin Khan, called “Yaz” by her friends, is a police officer who went to the same school as Ryan.

The Doctor is played by Jodie Whittaker, Graham is played by Bradley Walsh, Grace is played by Sharon D Clarke, Ryan is played by Tosin Cole and Yaz is played by Mandip Gill.

The magazines go into further detail about Ryan’s disability, Graham and Ryan’s occupations, and the circumstances under which the companions meet each other and the Doctor in the episode. Representatives of media outlets, including Cultbox, who were invited to the screening in Sheffield were asked not to give away plot details.

The premiere Doctor Who Series 11 episode, The Woman Who Fell to Earth airs on BBC One Sunday, October 7, 6:45 p.m. and is simulcast in participating countries.
