The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine has a fresh interview with Michelle Gomez, known to fans of the show of course for playing Missy/The Master in Doctor Who over the past few years.
Gomez had said that she felt her time on Doctor Who had come to a close come the end of series 10 last year. But she’s admitted to the magazine that it may not be that clear cut.
“I think it’s going to be really hard to shake this one off”, she said.
“Missy has made quite a big impression on me, and hopefully on the fans as well. She was such a great fit. Even though, for now, she has been laid to rest. I don’t think she’s ever going to be that far away. I loved playing this character so much, and it was really hard to see her go. But I think that in many different shapes and forms, she will be back. I can’t really say much more than that. I have never had this response to anything else that I’ve done, and I’m really grateful for that”.
Already, a book of Missy adventures has been published, and hopefully Big Finish will continue to explore Missy stories, even if the TV show leaves the character behind for a little while. In the same issue as the interview, incidentally, Missy/The Master was voted the best villain of series 10 too…
Doctor Who Magazine is on sale now.
