NASA livestreams are coming to Netflix this summer

The streamer and the US space Agency are bringing rocket launches and mission coverage to your living room.

Last week, we brought you news of a look back across NASA’s pivotal Space Shuttle program in a new BBC podcast series. Now, the future of space exploration will be available to view at home, thanks to a collaboration between Netflix and NASA.

NASA+ Live promises to bring rocket launches, mission coverage, and real-time vistas from the ISS (International Space Station) — all streamed in HD. This opens them up to a potential Netflix audience of over 700 million people worldwide.

Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, explains:

“Our Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience. Together, we’re committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration — inspiring new generations — right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone.”

The action begins this summer, when you’ll find NASA+ live feeds appearing in the Netflix interface. Detailed schedules will drop closer to launch day, so it will be worth checking Netflix’s Tudum for more details in the coming weeks.

Additionally, NASA+ remains free to view, without ads, on the NASA app and NASA.gov.
