A brand-new crime thriller series has just been greenlit by Prime Video. Here’s what we know so far about the people and story behind Dirty:
What’s it about?
A game of cat-and-mouse between a mother and daughter is revealed as a trainee detective returns to Manchester to help on a homicide case, lead by a formidable DCI who also just so happens to be her mother. The deeper our trainee digs, the more hidden truths she uncovers and her decisions force her to choose between what’s loyal and what’s just.
Who’s in it?
Although no cast members have been officially confirmed as of yet, the story sets up the potential for two female stars to take on the main roles of the ever-conflicted mother and daughter.
Who’s behind it?
The show is created by Academy-nominated writer Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies). Charman’s reputation for writing stories brimming with tension and suspicion looks like we’re in for a promising series.
The production companies involved are Binocular (Treason) and Amazon MGM Studios. Binocular was founded by Charman shortly after pitching Bridge of Spies to Steven Spielberg and the studio is behind the upcoming project for Sky, Prisoner, and the 2025 Netflix shows Hostage and Treason.
When’s it out?
There’s no confirmed release date right now, but production is set to begin in September 2026.
