The Loki star heads the cast of Passenger, from screenwriter Andrew Buchan.
ITV have announced the star of filming on a new comic thriller. The six-part series stars Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country) and David Threlfall (Troy: Fall of a City).
Interestingly, the script comes from a familiar name; Andrew Buchan is best known for his acting roles in series such as Broadchurch, The Honourable Woman and the currently airing Better.
Here’s the synopsis for Passenger:
In the small Northern village of Chadder Vale, a close-knit community is sent spinning on its axis following a series of strange and unnatural crimes.
After arriving there five years ago, Former Met Police Detective Riya Ajunwa has been searching for that ‘one big crime’, that one challenge that will make her feel alive again.
Then one night local girl, Katie Wells is mysteriously abducted. Her car is found abandoned and there are traces of blood on the seats. But the village barely has time to register Katie’s disappearance before she reappears the next day, safe and sound.
The rest of the villagers ask few questions and life resumes as normal. But for Riya, a relative outsider to the Chadder Vale way of life, none of this sits right. As a series of strange happenings and increasingly horrific crimes start unfolding within the village, the residents start resorting to short-sighted theories and blaming outside influences. Riya fights hard to convince the villagers that all is not as it seems. And before long she is drawn into a universe unlike anything she has ever seen.
The Cast
Joining Mosaku and Threfall in the cast are Daniel Ryan, Rowan Robinson, Barry Sloane, Natalie Gavin, Nico Mirallegro, Hubert Hanowicz, Jack James Ryan, Matilda Freeman, Shervin Alenabi, Ella Bruccoleri and Arian Nik. Together, they make up the close-knit community that is sent spinning on its axis following a series of strange and unnatural crimes.
A six-part series, Passenger comes from Northern Sister. The show is executive produced by Lucy Dyke (The Split) and Simon Maloney (Time) for Northern Sister, and Jane Featherstone (Chernobyl) for SISTER.
Andrew Buchan is creator, writer and associate producer for SISTER in association with Northern Sister. The show’s producer is Sumrah Mohammed (The Split); the directors are Lee Haven-Jones (The Bay) and Nicole Charles (The Following Events are Based on a Pack of Lies).
Passenger is being made for ITV and streamer ITVX in the UK, and for BritBox International. The show is filming now in Cornholme, North of Manchester.
We’ll keep you posted.
