Strange New Worlds returns… with more James T. Kirk and Klingons too!
Ahead of its June 15th launch, Paramount+ have revealed the trailer for the highly anticipated Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
The show, which originally span out of Star Trek: Discovery, sees the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike. A prequel to the original Star Trek series, it features familiar characters including Science Officer Spock and Cadet Uhura.
Strange New Worlds‘ first season won fans for its more serialised format and lighter, more exploratory tone. From the trailer, season 2 looks to be no different.

Among some stunning visuals, the big noise here must be the return of the Klingons who were absent from season 1. Plus, more from the young Captain James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) who is destined to command the Enterprise after Christopher Pike.
The crew
The cast all return for Season 2. That’s Anson Mount (Captain Christopher Pike), Rebecca Romijn (Number One), Ethan Peck (Science Officer Spock), Jess Bush (Nurse Christine Chapel), Christina Chong (La’an Noonien-Singh), Celia Rose Gooding (Nyota Uhura), Melissa Navia (Lt. Erica Ortegas) and Babs Olusanmokun (Dr. M’Benga). There are shiny new character posters for all the principals, which dropped on First Contact Day (April 5th).
This run also adds a new Chief Engineer for the Enterprise, with Carol Kane (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Peila.
Lower Decks crossover
Season 2 also promises a much-anticipated crossover with the animated Star Trek show Lower Decks. The mechanics are unclear, but we know that Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid are bringing their characters to live-action scenes.
Strange New Worlds is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman and Henry Alonso Myers are the co-showrunners. The executive producers are Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Jenny Lumet, Alonso Myers, Aaron Baiers, Heather Kadin, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
Back at last year’s Star Trek Celebration, the show also dropped a sneak peek from Season 2, with a fun moment for helmsman Lt. Ortegas.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 runs for ten episodes. The show has already had its third season confirmed too.
