Babylon 5: The Road Home – JMS reveals animated movie’s cast and synopsis
Last week, Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski dropped the news of an animated movie based on his classic sci-fi series. Now, as promised, there’s flesh on the bones of that announcement with a title, synopsis and cast details too (revealed via The Hollywood Reporter).
Babylon 5: The Road Home will see John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) on a quest through alternate realities.
Here’s the animated movie’s synopsis:
“Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.”
Various original cast members are joining Bruce Boxleitner to voice their characters from the series. These include Claudia Christian (Susan Ivanova), Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari), Bill Mumy (Lennier), Tracy Scoggins (Elizabeth Lochley) and Patricia Tallman (Lyta Alexander).
The Road Home also sees a number of characters recast, due to the sad passing of the original actors. These include Paul Guyet playing both Zathras and Jeffery Sinclair, Anthony Hansen as Michael Garibaldi, Phil LaMarr as Dr. Stephen Franklin, Piotr Michael as David Sheridan, Andrew Morgado as G’Kar and Rebecca Riedy as Delenn. Additionally, Mara Junot plays both a Reporter and Computer Voice.
There’s nothing further yet, but we do know that the movie is already “in the can” and due for release this summer. JMS has also described the movie as “… a love letter to the fans.”
Live-action Reboot
There are still plans for live-action reboot of Babylon 5, however work remains on hold during the WGA writers’ strike. The show has also been mired in the sale of the CW network, but seemingly managed to survive that!
We’ll keep you posted on all things Babylon 5.
