Welcome back to Hell’s Kitchen – Daredevil: Born Again arrives on Disney+ this March.
While Charlie Cox’s popular version of “The Man without Fear” appeared across three seasons during Marvel’s Netflix collaboration from 2015, there was no certainty he’d crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper.
However MCU head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed his status in 2020 and Cox went on to pop up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk and Echo.
Now, Matt Murdock is finally back with his own series. Daredevil: Born Again has enjoyed a lengthy development – it was originally announced with 18 episodes and a lighter tone. However, a change of direction came after the writers’ strike with a whole new creative team to retool the show.
Here’s the synopsis:
In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.
Joining Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, the cast includes Jon Bernthal, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Jeremy Earl and Ayelet Zurer.
The first season runs for nine episodes, with a distinctly more violent tone than much of Marvel’s output. A second season is already confirmed, with filming expected this year. If anyone’s still keeping count, it forms part of the MCU’s phase five.
Daredevil: Born Again drops on Disney+ on March 4th in the US, and a day later in the UK.
Those three original Daredevil seasons, plus The Defenders crossover mini-series, are all now on Disney+ too.
