Die Hard may have celebrated its 30th anniversary in July but pre-production is currently underway for the sixth instalment of the series, which has now been officially re-titled McClane.
Bruce Willis is set to have a substantial part in it as the series focuses in on its much-beleaguered hero, John McClane. Producer Lorenzo diBonaventura has been speaking to Empire about the new film and has confirmed that the movie will jump between present day, 60-year-old McClane (played by Willis, naturally) and his sprightlier 20-year-old self.
“You can tell our intention by the fact that the title page we handed in says, McClane,” diBonaventura told the magazine. “We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before.”
diBonaventura clarified that Bruce Willis’ McClane will have just as much screen-time as his younger self. “I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce,” he said. “The idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”
Len Wiseman, director of Live Free or Die Hard, is set to helm McClane and word is that production will commence before the end of the year.
We’ll pass on any news about McClane as and when we receive it.
