Disney+ Day 2022 takes place on September 8th
Disney+’s now annual celebratory event will soon be here and the streamer is using the celebration to drop a number of premieres on us.
Most notably, it is releasing the latest MCU movie Thor: Love and Thunder.
Thor: Love and Thunder landed in cinemas in June and is still, just about, on theatrical release. The fourth solo outing for Thor, and the second from director Taika Waititi, it stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular Norse god, with Natalie Portman returning to the franchise as Jane Foster, transformed into another iteration of the character.
The film will be offered in both regular and optional IMAX Enhanced format, as has become the norm. It’s also granted a behind the scenes feature too: Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder.
Other Disney+ Day 2022 highlights
The day also offers a few other items of interest:
Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return – a behind-the scenes documentary on the recent streaming Star Wars series.
Pinocchio – the live-action remake of the cartoon classic stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto.
The rest of the line-up is here:
Lacklustre?
While there’s no doubting the draw of Thor, we can’t help but think that the rest of this year’s offerings are a touch underwhelming. A making-of documentary for a Star Wars show that’s in the rear-view mirror for most viewers? Surely something related to the upcoming Andor would be more exciting. Of course, had that show not been delayed by three weeks, it would have been underway during the event.
Equally, trying to sell episode 4 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law seems like a stretch too. It’s an ongoing series that just happens to drop its latest installment that day. Unless something seismic is to occur in the episode, such as the arrival of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil perhaps?
Regardless, we’ll keep you posted on Disney+ Day.
