The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine is just landing on subscribers’ doormats today, and pride of place in it is a two page interview with the next Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.

In the interview, she talks about the reaction to the news of her casting, and whether it was what she was expecting. “You’ve probably heard both sides of the story”, she said, “but I did that very wise thing of not reading either. I was expecting a certain degree of, you know, surprise that it was me. I’m not on Twitter or anything like that, so I didn’t see loads of it”.

“People have been telling me nice things”, she admitted, “but I don’t know if it’s been filtered through the prism of positivity!”

“I was surprised how many people viewed the ‘reveal’. I couldn’t believe it when I was told it had gone into the double-digit millions!”

It’s early days, of course, so no story details for a while. But it’s a good interview, and congratulations to incoming Doctor Who Magazine editor Marcus Hearn.
