A Doctor Who film crew recorded several takes of a TARDIS scene with Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and John Bishop at Royal Albert Dock on Monday, March 22 in Liverpool.
Before the shoot began, a local man running in only trainers, a hat, gloves and a red Speedo ran past Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and John Bishop as the three actors laughed cheered and clapped.

John Bishop was so impressed and amused by Doctor Stringer that he lent the Speedo-clad man his warm robe so that he could watch the filming.

The night shoot at Royal Albert Dock filmed the same scene from different angles. The scene showed Dan (John Bishop) approaching the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) at the TARDIS with the stunning nighttime Liverpool scenery from Royal Albert Dock in the background. The Doctor asks, “Need a lift anywhere?” and then, “Wanna come?” Dan then joins the Doctor and Yaz in the TARDIS. The scene ends with the Doctor briefly looking out of the TARDIS doors into the night.
There were multiple reports of sightings of actress Catherine Tate, who played the Doctor’s companion Donna Noble, in Liverpool on March 22, but no-one who reported seeing her snapped a photo of her so there is no proof that Tate was actually in Liverpool concurrent with the filming. According to the Radio Times, Catherine Tate’s representatives denied she was filming Doctor Who or that she was even in Liverpool. The handful of reports of Tate’s presence in Liverpool will remain a curious mystery for now.
Eight episodes are planned for Doctor Who Series 13 with the filming continuing into July. The clip which introduced John Bishop as companion Dan revealed the series is scheduled to air sometime in 2021, likely late autumn.
