Filming on BBC Three’s new Doctor Who spin-off has been continuing in Cardiff this week, with last night’s shoot featuring the appearance of a familiar prop.

Created by YA author Patrick Ness, Class stars Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah as four Sixth Formers at Coal Hill School, with Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street) playing a teacher.

Fady Elsayed commented last night on Twitter: “I’m as excited as you guys, trust me.”

Peter Capaldi teased earlier this year: “…obviously as a spin-off it’d be nice if the Doctor did show up from time to time.”

Set in contemporary London, the eight-part series will premiere later this year on BBC Three in the UK and on BBC America in the US.

New photos earlier this week revealed a lovely tribute to one of Doctor Who‘s original cast members, with a sign for ‘The Barbara Wright Building’, a reference to the First Doctor’s companion.

Season 10 is expected to begin filming next month and will air on BBC One in spring 2017.
