The BBC has just officially confirmed that the new Doctor Who companion will be unveiled this weekend.

The announcement will be made live exclusively on BBC One on Saturday 23 April in half time of the FA Cup semi-final MOTD Live: Everton vs Manchester United.

The match kicks off at 5:15pm so the reveal will take place shortly after 6pm on BBC One.

Rakhee Thakrar recently responded to the reports that she has been cast as the new companion.

The actress, best known for playing Shabnam Masood in EastEnders, commented: “My way of looking at everything is just be here and see what happens.”

Season 10 is expected to begin filming next month and will air on BBC One in spring 2017.
