The Doctor Who BBC Centenary special, The Power of the Doctor, ended with Jodie Whittaker’s thirteenth Doctor regenerating into an incarnation played by tenth Doctor actor David Tennant. If this seems an unusual regeneration, the newly incarnated fourteenth Doctor agrees with you.
After the special aired on BBC one, a teaser trailer was released for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials to air in 2023.
It started with the TARDIS in an alleyway.
Then the Doctor, played by David Tennant, emerges from the TARDIS with Tennant voicing, “I don’t know who I am anymore.”
Then a chaotic scene with the Doctor in the foreground.
Cut to a top-hatted Neil Patrick Harris, possibly playing the classic Doctor Who villain the Toymaker, seemingly enjoying the melee.
Tennant’s Doctor scrambles under a door with Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate, in the background.
Donna has a frightened look on her face. Her daughter Rose, played by Yasmin Finney, is visible in the background.
Tennant’s Doctor runs down an alleyway.
Some vehicles explode.
Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor appears at the end of the teaser demanding, “Someone tell me what the hell is going on here!”
Three Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant will air in November of 2023.
After the three specials air in November, the first episode of Doctor Who starring Ncuti Gatwa as the fifteenth Doctor will air during the “festive period” in 2023, possibly as a Christmas special.
