Coleman was spotted filming earlier this week at Tonyrefail School in Rhondda Cynon Taff, which has been used in Doctor Who as Coal Hill School since 2013’s ‘The Day of the Doctor’, featuring most prominently in Season 8’s ‘The Caretaker’.

Clara’s motorbike was also on set.

Season 9 began filming in Cardiff last month and will air on BBC One this autumn.

‘The Caretaker’ writer Gareth Roberts exclusively told CultBox last year that he is keen for original companion Ian Chestertson to return to the show.

Actor William Russell played teacher Ian from 1963 to 1965 and the character was referenced in ‘The Day of the Doctor’ as Coal Hill school’s Chairman of the Governors.

Roberts commented: “I’d love to see William Russell back in the show! That’s so rich and so fertile for someone to do. You’d have to explain it enough so that everyone would get it.”
