The BBC released a brief announcement today for two major Doctor Who Series 14 characters.

Jemma Redgrave returns as UNIT Chief Scientific Officer Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. The long-running organisation tasked with defending planet Earth is back for Doctor Who Series 14. UNIT will also make an appearance in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials which will precede Series 14.

Redgrave was spotted filming Doctor Who with Millie Gibson in Newport on 9 January.

Aneurin Barnard also joins the series as the mysterious Roger ap Gwilliam. Campaign posters with Barnard’s image on them were spotted at Doctor Who filming at Capitol Shopping Centre in Cardiff on 9 January.

The slogans included “Bigger Better Bolder Britain”, “Vote for Gwilliam” and “The Space Saviour”.

Barnard was also spotted filming in Newport.

Doctor Who will return in November 2023 with three 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor. In the following festive period, Ncuti Gatwa will star in his first full Doctor Who episode as the Fifteenth Doctor.
