‘Doctor Who’ star Capaldi teases ‘more complicated’ regeneration for his Doctor

Peter Capaldi has hinted that his Doctor’s demise won’t be as “straightforward” as recent regenerations.

It was announced in January that the Thick of It star would be leaving Doctor Who in this year’s Christmas special alongside departing showrunner Steven Moffat.

Here’s everything we know so far about Season 10.

Asked about the Twelfth Doctor’s fate, Capaldi told the NY Times: “I know what’s going to happen.”

He revealed: “It’s more complicated than that. There’s this notion now that it’s the same process he’s gone through every time, and that’s not true. It’s only the last couple of regenerations that have been, as it were, fairly straightforward ones. I can’t go into the details of a lot of it, because I know what happens, but I don’t know how it happens.”

In the interview, Capaldi also revealed the reasons behind his decision to leave.

The most recent trailer for the new season appeared to show the Doctor starting to regenerate.

Season 10 begins at 7.20pm on Saturday 15 April on BBC One with ‘The Pilot’.
