Steven Moffat has been chatting about the likelihood of the Doctor’s daughter returning to Doctor Who.
Played by Georgia Moffett – who is Peter Davison’s daughter and David Tennant’s wife – Jenny was introduced in 2008’s ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ episode, written by Stephen Greenhorn.
She was created against the Doctor’s will from a sample of his skin on the planet Messaline during the war between humans and Hath, during which both sides used progenation machines to create new soldiers. The episode ended with Jenny flying off in to space, with the Doctor believing her to be dead, but she has never been seen again since.
Asked by a fan if we’ll ever see the Doctor’s daughter again, showrunner Steven Moffat told the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine: “Which daughter? He clearly had a family on Gallifrey, so I don’t know which daughter you’re referring to. If you’re referring to the Doctor’s daughter Jenny, played by Georgia Moffett in the episode ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’, I have absolutely no idea!”
He: “It comes down to whether or not there’s a great story to tell. And since he already has a family there somewhere, why is that the best story? Having said that, Georgia is a friend of mine, and she’s probably reading this, and would like me to say that she’s my absolute favourite of the Doctor’s progeny.”
The Sherlock writer also discussed the possibility of David Tennant’s Meta-Crisis Doctor from ‘Journey’s End’ returning.
Moffat’s final season of Doctor Who has been filming in Cardiff since June and will begin airing on BBC One in April 2017.
Here’s everything we know so far about Season 10.
Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall will take over as showrunner for 2018’s season.
