Jane the Virgin will no longer air on E4 in the UK, it’s previous home, but fans will instead be able to catch up with new episodes on Netflix.
The first two seasons of the CW telenovela have aired on the channel, but it has now been announced (via DigitalSpy) that E4 won’t be buying the rights to a third season, which has already wrapped up in the US.
But now the third run has landed on Netflix in its entirety, and season four will ‘air’ episode by episode on the streaming platform much like Riverdale and iZombie, which share a US network with Jane the Virgin. Like those series, UK audiences will get access to a new episode hours after the original US broadcast.
Netflix has a deal with The CW in the US that has so far failed to benefit international audiences in any significant way, but this – and the recent news that the UK rights for upcoming series Dynasty had also been snapped up by the company – indicates a change in fortune for this side of the pond.
Save the date – season four of Jane the Virgin will hit Netflix UK on October 14th.
